Caruna's year 2024
Caruna is a Finnish electricity network company. We secure the reliable distribution of electricity to our customers – also as electricity consumption increases and we move from fossil to renewable energy. By investing in the electricity network, we make sure that our customers can use domestic, renewable energy and become small-scale producers of electricity. We bring electricity to over 740,000 customers in South, Southwest and West Finland, Joensuu and Koillismaa – equalling 20% of Finnish electricity distribution.

CEO's review
Our operating environment underwent a significant change at the very start of the year when the Energy Authority introduced new regulatory methods. The energy transition is progressing, and we want to help our customers make a clean transition. Changes in the supervisory authority will affect our plans for the coming years.
Early in the year, we took quick measures to cut costs and reschedule investments. We reduced investments by approximately EUR 60 million and revamped our operations, which meant a smaller organisation and lower operational costs.
Securing operating conditions was at the heart of everything: safeguarding our financial position, ensuring electricity distribution to customers and supporting the clean energy transition in our operating areas.

Excerpts from the events of 2024

We improved customer service and delivery reliability
We utilised artificial intelligence to improve customer service, launched the Capacity Map service for corporate customers, and improved the operation of the electricity network through several projects.

We invested in safety
For the first time, we handed out an award for information security in addition to the contractor's safety award. Our investments in safety have paid off: the number of accidents in Caruna's work decreased by ten from the previous year.

We influenced and worked for responsibility
Our goal is effective cooperation with various stakeholders. We promote the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. We support sustainable Finnish projects in the company's network areas every year, and we also made a donation to Ukraine.
