Connecting a new connection to the electricity network
Order the connection and metering of a new connection by filling out the general information form in Caruna Plus for contractors. Review the instructions below before completing the form.
General instructions
Check the customer’s connection agreement and point of connection
Ensure your customer has ordered a new electricity connection and received a contract confirmation. The connection order will proceed to our partner contractor only after the customer has a signed connection agreement with Caruna.
Check the agreed point of connection in the connection agreement. Typically, the point of connection is agreed as the plot boundary, overhead line connectors on a pole, distribution cabinet, substation, or combination cabinet. If the point of connection is anything other than a combination cabinet, order the connection to the electricity network using the general information form. When the point of connection is a combination cabinet, the general information form is not required, as the combination cabinet also serves as the customer’s main switchboard.
Please place the order well in advance when you know you need an electricity connection.
Connection requires an electricity sales contract
Ensure your customer has made an electricity sales contract with an electricity supplier. Each installed electricity meter, i.e., each new usage point, must have a valid electricity sales contract with the supplier.
The connection order will proceed to our partner contractor only after the customer’s electricity supplier has informed us of a valid electricity sales contract.
Direct or indirect metering?
Direct metering is used when the pre-metering fuse is a maximum of 63 A. If the fuses are larger than 63 A, indirect metering is used.
When the pre-metering fuse of the installed meter is over 63 A (indirect metering), check that the switchboard’s current transformers are of an allowed size and that the accuracy class of the current transformer is 0.2S. The fuse size determines the minimum and maximum allowed size of the current transformer according to the CT table in the Contractor Guide.
Temporary connection
Before submitting the general information form, confirm the point of connection for the temporary connection with Caruna’s contractor service.
A temporary connection does not involve building a new electricity network; the point of connection must be found in the existing network. If the customer’s desired connection cannot be connected to the network, a smaller connection, generator, or permanent electricity connection may be arranged instead.
As the contractor, you are responsible for building the temporary electricity network up to the point of connection defined by Caruna and for procuring and installing the temporary cabinet. Installations must comply with standards.
Order the temporary connection and its connection to the electricity network using the general information form by selecting “connecting a new connection to the electricity network.” We will create a temporary contract for the customer based on the information in the general information form and provide the usage point ID for the temporary connection for the electricity contract.
During processing of the general information form, a usage point ID is created for the temporary connection, and the customer must make a contract with an electricity supplier for it. The connection order will proceed to our partner contractor only after the customer’s electricity supplier has informed us of the electricity contract. The electricity contract becomes valid when the meter is installed.
We charge a fee for the temporary connection according to our service price list for metering, connection, and disconnection of the cabinet, as well as additional cables if more than one cable is required.
Processing and delivery time
The delivery time for the order is 20 working days, consisting of the form processing time (five working days) and the delivery time for work ordered from our partner contractor (15 working days).
Our partner contractor will contact you to agree on the exact schedule for the connection. The connection will be made as soon as possible after your installation work is completed.
Forms submitted with incorrect or incomplete information will extend processing and delivery times.
Fill out the general request form
Fill out the general request form when you have the job details and have ensured that the customer you represent has completed the necessary actions.
