Safety culture at Caruna
At Caruna, safety culture is part of our corporate culture. We systematically develop safety and our operations. Caruna’s safety activities are guided by the goal of preventing all accidents in advance, because even one accident is too many.
The entire supply chain is involved in safety
Caruna’s safety culture covers not only Caruna employees but the entire supply chain—from material delivery to installation, use, and maintenance, and finally dismantling and recycling of the old network.
Continuous improvement model
Caruna’s safety management is based on a continuous improvement model, where safety is considered in everything we do. The safety management model is certified according to ISO 45001.
Safe work and work environment for Caruna’s partners
We agree on safety rules already when signing cooperation agreements. We provide orientation for all contractors and require prior approval for all subcontractors.
We have systematically enhanced contractors’ deviation and working hour reporting. Through training, orientation, and systematic handling of deviations, accident frequency has decreased significantly.
Improving worksite safety
To improve subcontractor safety, Caruna organizes Caruna Card training, intended for subcontractors who are not electrical professionals, such as earthworks contractors or forestry workers. The purpose is to ensure a basic understanding of safety factors related to Caruna’s operating environment and to support Caruna’s contract partners in fulfilling their own orientation obligations.
Safety and Environment online course is mandatory for everyone working on Caruna worksites
The Electrical Safety at Worksite online course is recommended for those working on sites. Course completions are valid for three years, and more than 2,500 people currently hold a valid certificate.
We also organize various training sessions for our partners on safety and environmental topics, such as emergency and fault resolution training, land use planning training, major disturbance training, and tree clearing near power lines.
The “Know Before You Act” guide helps ensure safe work near the electricity network
We have compiled safe working instructions into one guide: “Know Before You Act.” The ABC of safe working aims to familiarize Caruna’s contractors with worksite safety.
