40 hectares solar park to be built in Hanko - Better Energy agrees grid connection with Finnish DSO, Caruna
Caruna will build a new substation to facilitate the grid connection of Better Energy’s new solar park and other installations in the Hanko region in southern Finland.
Better Energy’s solar park is expected to have an annual production capacity of 38 GWh, the equivalent of the energy consumption of over 2,000 Finnish households. The solar park will cover around 40 hectares and is planned to be built on a former parking lot. The park will be first industrial-scale solar park in Caruna’s network in the Uusimaa region.
“As the energy transition in Finland progresses, we believe solar energy is an important part of the Finnish energy market. We’re very pleased that we managed to get a new grid connection with Caruna established close to our coming solar park in Hanko”, says Better Energy Finland’s Director, Santeri Järvelä.
“We are delighted that Better Energy chose Finland for their solar parks and selected Caruna as their partner. The solar power park by Better Energy holds significant social value. The clean energy transition is driving increased demand for renewable electricity, necessitating grid development in the coming years to smoothly connect a substantial share of projects currently in development. We hope that regulation will support the seamless integration of more renewable energy projects into the grid in the future”, says Caruna’s Sales Director Ilkka Möttönen.
