Caruna begins vegetation clearing of the electricity network in Espoo between Järvenperä and Laaksolahti in October

Uutinen
In October, Caruna will begin vegetation clearing related to electricity network maintenance in Espoo, along the transmission line area between Järvenperä and Laaksolahti. Caruna’s partner, a forestry worker from Omexom, will carry out the clearing from October 13–26, and the work will continue next year. The goal of maintaining the transmission line area is to ensure that the electricity network operates safely and reliably under all conditions.

The clearing involves removing undergrowth along the relevant transmission line, which can cause disruptions to electricity distribution. The work will also take place on private yards if the transmission line passes through them. The transmission line is a total of 14 kilometres long, and there are many residences around it.

– Through these clearings, we strengthen the electrical safety of the area and the network while reducing the risk of power outages. As a network company, Caruna has an obligation to maintain the electricity network and regularly remove vegetation growing nearby, says Caruna’s Maintenance Manager, Petteri Palmumaa.

The clearing work will be carried out by Caruna’s partner, Omexom’s forestry worker. The work will mostly take place on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Customers do not need to prepare in advance for the clearing. Omexom will send a text message to those living near the power line area before the clearing begins. The message will be sent to customers whose properties are close to where the forestry worker is operating. To ensure text notifications are received, it is recommended to check and, if necessary, update your contact information in Caruna+.

The clearing work follows safety regulations and considers the local residences. Branches and brush generated during the clearing are left for the landowner to use, and in yard areas, they are gathered into neat piles.

A transmission line is the tallest and highest-voltage (110 kV) power line in the distribution network. Customers can recognize it by poles approximately 20 meters high. The Järvenperä–Laaksolahti transmission zone clearing area is 30 meters wide, and the border zone areas are 10 meters wide. Image of the high-voltage network and its border zones:
