Caruna's transformer suppliers selected

News
Caruna held a competitive bidding process for park transformers in autumn 2024, and the selected suppliers were Harju Elekter Oy, POK Group Oy, and UTU Oy.

The contracts will come into effect in June 2025 and will remain valid until the end of 2027, after which the contracts can be extended with option years until the end of 2030. The total value of the contracts, including the option years, is approximately 60 million euros.

UTU's transformers are manufactured in Ulvila, POK's production is in Kuopio, and Harju Elekter's transformers come from Keila, Estonia.

When the new contract period begins, the transformers will transition to using SF6-free RMU medium-voltage switchgear in accordance with the EU’s updated gas regulation.

Caruna is currently conducting factory inspections of the offered transformations in collaboration with the manufacturers. These inspections ensure that the products meet the required standards and are ready when the contract period begins in summer 2025.

“Caruna selected the transformer suppliers based on high quality standards, delivery reliability, and cost-effectiveness. I wish the selected suppliers good luck and success,” says Caruna’s Procurement Director, Mervi Haukilahti.

Harju Elekter Oy and UTU Oy will continue as Caruna's existing suppliers, and POK Group Oy will start as a new park transformer supplier.
