Development plans for Caruna’s electricity network ready for customer hearing

Caruna organises a customer hearing for both of its network companies, Caruna Espoo Oy and Caruna Oy. The aim is to hear about the opinions and needs of customers and stakeholders regarding the development of the electricity network and to ensure that the plan meets expectations. The hearings will be open from 1 to 31 May 2024.

Both Caruna Espoo Oy’s and Caruna Oy’s development plans for the electricity network include investments and development measures to improve the reliability of the electricity network and to ensure the uninterrupted distribution of electricity to all its customers. Among other things, the development plans include improving and securing electricity distribution as electricity consumption increases, future outlooks and long-term development measures.

The plans assess development needs for the network for the next ten years, and will be affected by required investments in developing the clean transition, electrification and security of supply in Caruna Oy’s and Caruna Espoo Oy’s areas, as well as supervisory policies that weaken the companies’ investment abilities.

The customer hearings give customers and stakeholders an opportunity to be heard and to influence the development of the electricity network in their own area. Caruna wants to ensure that the plans meet the needs of customers and stakeholders, and that their opinions are taken into account in the decision-making.

The hearings will be open from 1 to 31 May 2024

Caruna encourages all its customers to share their thoughts and views on the development of the electricity network.

Among other things, Caruna wants to hear its customers’ views on the reliability of electricity distribution, renewable energy, electric cars and the possible effects of electricity distribution on the daily lives of its customers.

After reviewing the development plan for your area, you can participate in the customer hearing by answering a short survey. The survey for private customers can be found here. Corporate and municipal customers can respond to the survey with own forms (companies/municipalities) in Finnish. Caruna also sends e-mail invitations to its customers.

At the end of the hearings, Caruna will prepare the final development plans, that take into account the needs and wishes of customers and stakeholders. The completed plans will be published on Caruna's website by the end of June 2024.

Network companies have submitted their own electricity network development plans to the Energy Authority since 2014. In 2022, the network companies also had to submit their development plans to their customers and stakeholders for the first time. At that time, Caruna received over 4,000 responses from its customers and stakeholders.
