The updated Caruna outage map has been published: more detailed information about power outages

The outage map will now display all known sudden faults in Caruna's electricity network as well as ongoing planned maintenance outages in the medium-voltage network. Previously, the map only showed outages in the medium- and high-voltage networks, but the updated map also shows faults in the low-voltage network, which cause power outages in smaller areas.

The goal of the update is to provide customers with better and more accurate information about power outages. We want to ensure that our customers have all the necessary information about power outages.

"The fault situation is displayed on the map almost in real-time. For each fault, there is information about the number of customers affected in the area and the estimated time of resolution. If a power outage is visible on the map, contact us only if you have more detailed information about the cause of the fault. This could be, for example, a fallen tree on a power line, a sparking transformer, a fallen pole, heavy snow on the power line or a tilted distribution cabinet," says Caruna's Operations Manager Kimmo Vainiola.

The regional division on the map has also been clarified, and in the future, power outages will be displayed by region and municipality. This makes it easier for customers to find information about their own area. The map allows you to conveniently move directly to the desired location using the address search. Additionally, mobile use has been better taken into account, ensuring smooth use of the map on smartphones and tablets.

The map was developed in collaboration with customers and other stakeholders. Customer feedback and wishes were taken into account in the development work, and user group interviews and a customer survey were conducted as part of the development project.

Instructions and guidance for power outages have been added to the map so that customers know how to act during power outages and how to prepare for possible outages.
