Storm Mauri in 1982 has stayed in my mind: I was outdoors walking with a friend of mine when suddenly huge trees started falling down around us. The situation was frightening and it felt like the wind would take us with it. After Mauri, there have been many other storms, and in my work, I am still vigilant when storms strike. Do customers get help quickly in fault situations and how well are we able to meet customer expectations in a crisis?
Construction of Carunas weatherproof electricity network progressed as planned in the first half of the year
The projects to improve the electricity network in Caruna's network areas proceeded despite the extraordinary circumstances brought on by the coronavirus epidemic. The total electricity supply volume on the distribution network between January and June decreased slightly due to a warmer winter and spring than in the previous year. The epidemic mainly affected consumption by businesses.

Noora Neilimo-Kontio, KTM (MSc in Economics and Business Administration), Head of Regulation and Strategy at Caruna, has been appointed as member of Caruna's Management Team as of 12 March 2020. She reports to CEO Tomi Yli-Kyyny.
Carunas first training for network electricians, tailored for electricity professionals, will start in May
The training programme called Kärkiryhmä (Top Team) will start on 25 May 2020. Electricity distribution company Caruna, Barona and Sedu Education will in collaboration implement training for network electricians. The training will enable electricity network contractors get professionals with targeted training into their ranks.
Caruna and municipalities are working together to hire young people for summer jobs in municipalities
During this challenging pandemic period, Caruna wants to support the municipalities in its area and help them recruit young people aged 16 to 20 for summer jobs. Each municipality participating in the Duunienergiaa (Work Energy) campaign receives 4,000 euros for this purpose. Currently, 29 municipalities across Finland have already registered for the campaign. The municipality of Isojoki in South Ostrobothnia was the first to join the campaign.
Electricity distribution company Caruna has renewed its certification to the renowned ISO 55001 standard
Caruna's electricity network asset management system has been repeatedly awarded a certificate against the internationally recognised ISO 55001:2014 asset management standard. The certificate signifies the high quality Caruna has achieved in electricity network development and maintenance, network operations and other operative activities. The certificate is valid for three years.
