Electricity solutions for specific needs: Cultivation with grow lighting in greenhouses uses a lot of electricity for the needs of growing

In Finland, the growing season is naturally short, but by using grow lighting, Finnish crops can be produced year round. Lighting that provides strength to growth is the biggest electricity user in a greenhouse, and annual usage can easily reach tens of thousands of megawatt hours. Electricity for the Juntti market garden will soon be delivered via their own Caruna primary substation

In summer 2018, Roiha family's beautiful house, Villa Roiha, was completed near the sea in Kaarina. It is exceptional for many reasons – apart from being the first single-family house in Finland to have the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, it is also unique for its electricity system. Caruna assisted in the implementation of this energy efficient house.

Ismo produces electricity for his neighbours in Karuna village

Energy history is once again being written in the birthplace of Caruna, in the rural municipality of Sauvo in Southwest Finland. A power community has been set up in Karuna village, with members utilising solar power generated by Ismo Anttalainen.

Weather-proof development ensures our customers daily lives run smoothly

Storm Mauri in 1982 has stayed in my mind: I was outdoors walking with a friend of mine when suddenly huge trees started falling down around us. The situation was frightening and it felt like the wind would take us with it. After Mauri, there have been many other storms, and in my work, I am still vigilant when storms strike. Do customers get help quickly in fault situations and how well are we able to meet customer expectations in a crisis?

Cabling has been done and the power is still off – what on earth!

As winter never really arrived in southern Finland, this caused many kinds of strange things. Normally, we have not had the kinds of storms that we have now had during three weekends in February – or at least those who have been working in electricity distribution for a long time do not remember that there would have been. Electricity was cut off, and sometimes the fault repair took a long time. Why?
