Caruna in 2021: Network reliability was excellent: the electricity supply volume increased, and an increasing number of households switched to solar energy
Caruna continued to modernise the electricity network to match growing electricity consumption and the ongoing energy transition. A smart electricity network combines the growth of electrification and clean energy production, digital services, and consumer involvement in the electricity market. The Group's net sales from January to December amounted to EUR 499.8 (475.3) million, and it invested EUR 140.1 (143.2) million.
Ilpo grabbed himself an electric Jopo bike by switching to Caruna e-invoices
In the autumn, we encouraged our customers to swap paper-based invoices for environmentally friendly e-invoices, and we held a prize draw for everyone who made the switch. The top prize was a trendy Helkama e-Jopo bike.
Caruna joins Save the Children Finland's Food and Support campaign
Electricity distribution company Caruna takes part in Save the Children Finland's campaign aimed at helping impoverished families by distributing, for example, gift vouchers to food shops to families with children. With the gift voucher, the family receives food aid, which is a concrete help to get past the most difficult moment.

The electrification of society, the increase of renewable energy production and electric transportation require a strong and smart electricity network to support Finland's carbon neutrality goals by 2035. In 2020, Caruna carried out long-term work to upgrade its electricity network, taking the increasing future need for electricity into consideration.
Caruna's electricity supply interruption and connection charges lowered from 1 February 2021
The price of the interruption and reconnection of electricity supply due to unpaid invoices to Caruna was changed as of 1 February.
Industrial electricity tax to be lowered as of 1 January 2021
The industrial electricity tax included in the electricity distribution invoice will be lowered to 0.063 c/kWh at the beginning of the year. The change also applies to commercial greenhouse production.

Caruna's customers were given a golden opportunity to manage the start-up schedules of electrical devices, such as water boilers. This brings relief to the electricity invoice, as devices can be turned on during the cheapest hours of electricity. At the same time, the customer inadvertently does a service to the climate.
Caruna ready to net small-scale production
The new amendment to the Government Decree allows hourly netting of small-scale production and consumption. This means that Caruna will automatically compensate for production that is not used in a one-hour period in the small-scale producer's distribution invoice.
Construction of Carunas weatherproof electricity network progressed as planned in the first half of the year
The projects to improve the electricity network in Caruna's network areas proceeded despite the extraordinary circumstances brought on by the coronavirus epidemic. The total electricity supply volume on the distribution network between January and June decreased slightly due to a warmer winter and spring than in the previous year. The epidemic mainly affected consumption by businesses.
