Renewal of the locking systems of electrical room key cabinets across properties

Many electrical room key cabinets are equipped with a locking system that has reached the end of its lifecycle. We will standardise the locking systems of electrical rooms across our properties in line with current standards to maintain and ensure security by 2027.

Renewal of the locking system and placing an order

Caruna will renew all locking systems in metering and substation facilities by 2027. The new locking system selected for key cabinets is iLOQ S50.

We will send a letter to customers affected by the renewal. The letter includes instructions on how to renew the locking system. Once you receive the letter, you should order the lock cylinder and lock within one month. If the order is not placed, we will send you a reminder.

The renewal includes an iLOQ S50 lock cylinder, as well as its installation and programming. You can purchase the key cabinet from any authorised iLOQ locksmith. The installation and programming of the locking system will be carried out by Caruna’s partner.

What does the customer need to do?

  • Obtain a new key cabinet. You can purchase it from any authorised iLOQ locksmith. Please note that the installation and programming of the locking system will be carried out by Caruna.
  • You may order the full locking system renewal or only the installation and programming of the key cabinet through Caruna’s locking partner, BLC Turva Oy.

The property owner is responsible for the locking systems of metering and substation facilities and their costs

A locking system is required in all substations and metering facilities. The property owner or holder is responsible for the locking systems of these facilities and for all related costs.

When designing and implementing locking systems, it must be ensured that Caruna is granted free of charge and uninterrupted access to the metering centre and equipment for maintenance, inspection, fault investigation and repair work, at all times of the day. This requirement is stated in the Connection Terms (LE 2019, section 8.4).
