Network service and connection fee rates for production 1 January 2026
On this page, you can see the current electricity production prices within Caruna’s distribution area.
For network service contracts of power generation facilities, we comply with the valid terms of network service recommended by Finnish Energy.
Network service rates for production in the distribution network, Caruna Oy and Caruna Espoo Oy
If the nominal output of the generator in the production plant is 1 MW or greater, we collect a consumption fee for self-generated and consumed electricity (for consumption other than the internal consumption of production). The internal consumption of production includes auxiliaries in power plants as provided for in the Decree of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland (309/2003).
The customer takes care of the compensation of reactive power at the connection point whenever necessary.

Connection fees for production, Caruna Oy and Caruna Espoo Oy
Connection contracts of power generation facilities comply with the valid terms and conditions for network connection (LE 2019) recommended by Finnish Energy.
The equipment must comply with technical and electrical safety regulations so that the production facility does not cause danger or undue disturbance to other electricity users. When operational, if the equipment does not comply with the regulations or causes danger to life, the owner of the production facility will be responsible for the damages caused by the equipment. The production equipment must be equipped with the appropriate safety devices to prevent any damage to the equipment in case of network interruption, and problems with safety or the standard of electricity.
If the production equipment causes network interruptions, the right to the parallel use of the equipment may be suspended until the facility operates within the permissible interruption limits.
| Maximum production 2 MVA | The connection fee is determined in accordance with the network expansion costs caused by the connection. Possible reinforcement costs for the existing network will not be charged. |
| Production over 2 MVA | The connection fee is determined based on the network expansion costs caused by the connection and the capacity reservation fee. The capacity reservation fee is €55/kVA (VAT 0%) in Caruna Oy’s area and €16/kVA (VAT 0%) in Caruna Espoo Oy’s area. |
| Production over 2 MVA and connection point at the primary substation | The connection fee is determined based on the network expansion costs caused by the connection and the capacity reservation fee of €8.8/kVA (VAT 0%). |
More information
Metering of production and consumption
Caruna is responsible for metering the electricity feed in and out of the network. Consumption of self-generated electricity refers to the amount of electricity which the customer has generated and then used. The electricity producer is responsible for the necessary metering of production, consumption of self-generated electricity and internal consumption.
The connection agreements for electricity production plants comply with the connection terms and conditions in force at any given time recommended by Finnish Energy.
The production equipment must always meet the technical and electrical safety requirements set for it so that the production plant does not cause danger or unreasonable disturbance to other electricity users.
If the production equipment does not meet the requirements or poses a risk to life, the plant operator shall be liable for any damage caused by the production equipment. Production equipment shall be equipped with suitable protective devices to prevent equipment breakdowns in the event of disturbances in the electricity network and to prevent possible safety and power quality problems.
If the production equipment causes disturbances in the electricity network, parallel access to the production equipment in the network may be denied until the production plant operates within the permitted disturbance limits.
Electricity tax
Producers are responsible for determining their liability to pay electricity tax and paying the electricity tax for the consumption of self-generated electricity.
If the production facility capacity is:
| Max. 100 kVA | No liability to pay electricity tax irrespective of whether the producer consumes the electricity or sells it to the network. |
| Over 100 kVA and maximum annual production of 800,000 kWh | No electricity tax liability. However, the producer must submit a registration notification as an electricity tax liable party to the Finnish Tax Administration and file an excise duty return once a year on the electricity produced, so that the annual production threshold can be monitored. |
| Over 100 kVA and annual production over 800,000 kWh | The liability to pay electricity tax and return the standard excise form to the Tax Administration monthly, irrespective of whether electricity is fed to the network. |
