Electricity meter replacement for housing companies and properties
Caruna will replace the electricity meters of all our customers with new ones within our network area during 2027–2029. On this page, property managers, maintenance companies, boards of housing companies and other property representatives will find instructions for the replacement process and information about responsible parties.
Meter replacement in brief
- The electricity meter replacement is free of charge for customers.
- The meters will be replaced on weekdays and Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. And on Sundays between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- It usually takes 20 minutes to replace one meter.
- There will be a brief power outage of 5–20 minutes, while the meter is being replaced.
- Customers with an electricity network agreement for the location in question will be notified directly of the exact time of the replacement.
- The property must make sure the technician can access the metering centre.
How to prepare for the electricity meter replacement
Make sure the contact details of the maintenance company and property manager are available on the property
Make sure that the current contact details, such as name and phone number, of the maintenance company and property manager are clearly visible somewhere on the property. The maintenance company’s contact details should be on the entrance door. This information should be easy to find in case the technician cannot access the measuring centre.
Provide access to the measuring centre
The technician must be able to access the measuring centre at the time announced without delay. Check in advance that:
- The route key in the key deposit or cylinder is correct.
- The route key opens all the doors leading to the measuring centre.
- Any access codes and access instructions are up to date.
- There is enough space around the measuring centre to allow safe working.
- The on-call maintenance service is available and able to open any door as soon as possible if the technician contacts them.
If you are unsure whether the route key in the key deposit is the correct one, or the locks have been changed and no new route key has been stored in the key deposit, please contact BLC Turva or your lock system management company. If the technician cannot access the measuring centre, your meter replacement may be postponed. Caruna is not responsible for any costs incurred due to the opening of doors or other access arrangements.
