Network Service price list for electricity production 1 January 2026
On this page, you can see the current electricity production prices within Caruna’s distribution area.
For network service contracts of power generation facilities, we comply with the valid terms of network service recommended by Finnish Energy.
Network Service fees for production in the distribution network, Caruna Oy and Caruna Espoo Oy
If the nominal output of the generator in the production plant is 1 MW or greater, we collect a consumption fee for self-generated and consumed electricity (for consumption other than the internal consumption of production). The internal consumption of production includes auxiliaries in power plants as provided for in the Decree of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland (309/2003).
The customer takes care of the compensation of reactive power at the connection point whenever necessary.

Measurement of production and consumption
Caruna is responsible for the measurement of electricity taken from and fed into the electricity network. Self-consumption refers to the share of electricity generated that is consumed by the producer themselves. The electricity producer is responsible for the necessary metering of production, self-consumption and own use.
Connection agreements for electricity generation facilities follow the connection terms recommended by Finnish Energy (Energiateollisuus ry) valid at any given time.
Generating equipment must always comply with applicable technical requirements and electrical safety requirements to ensure that the generation facility does not pose a risk or cause unreasonable disturbance to other electricity users.
If the generating equipment does not meet the requirements during operation or poses a risk to life, the operator of the generation facility is responsible for any damage caused by the equipment. Generating equipment must be equipped with appropriate protection devices to prevent damage to the equipment during disturbances in the electricity network and to prevent potential safety and power quality issues.
If the generating equipment causes disturbances to the electricity network, the right to operate in parallel with the network may be denied until the generation facility operates within the permitted disturbance limits.
Electricity tax
The producer is responsible for determining their electricity tax liability and paying electricity tax on the electricity consumed from self-generation.
When the capacity of the generation facility is:
- Up to 100 kVA: No electricity tax liability, regardless of whether the producer consumes the electricity themselves or feeds it into the electricity network.
- Over 100 kVA and annual production up to 800,000 kWh: No electricity tax liability. However, the producer must submit a registration notification to the Finnish Tax Administration and file an excise duty return on the electricity generated once a year to enable monitoring of the annual production limit.
- Over 100 kVA and annual production exceeding 800,000 kWh: Electricity tax liability applies, and a standard excise duty return must be submitted to the Finnish Tax Administration monthly, regardless of whether electricity is fed into the electricity network or not.
