Weather-proof development ensures our customers daily lives run smoothly
Storm Mauri in 1982 has stayed in my mind: I was outdoors walking with a friend of mine when suddenly huge trees started falling down around us. The situation was frightening and it felt like the wind would take us with it. After Mauri, there have been many other storms, and in my work, I am still vigilant when storms strike. Do customers get help quickly in fault situations and how well are we able to meet customer expectations in a crisis?
Construction of Carunas weatherproof electricity network progressed as planned in the first half of the year
The projects to improve the electricity network in Caruna's network areas proceeded despite the extraordinary circumstances brought on by the coronavirus epidemic. The total electricity supply volume on the distribution network between January and June decreased slightly due to a warmer winter and spring than in the previous year. The epidemic mainly affected consumption by businesses.
Caruna takes care of the electricity distribution even under abnormal circumstances
We take the coronavirus situation seriously and we have already taken steps to ensure the electricity distribution even under abnormal circumstances. We ensure that electricity will be transferred to our customers and possible faults will be taken care of.
Safety culture changes act by act
When a human error occurs on a site and safety is compromised, how do you raise the issue? Caruna's new safety coaches bring safety thinking and addressing skills forward in the organisation. Caruna always puts people's safety first. Everyone has the right to return home safely.
Safety is a team effort
An old Finnish saying goes: "There's one for every train". Some continue the saying: "... and some are left at the station". Sayings are always sayings, but there is wisdom behind them. We at Caruna agree that everyone is different. Nobody is, however, left at the station. Everyone is equally valuable.
Caruna gets its own godoldster - work for a young person, a friend for an elderly person
Caruna participates in elderly service company Gubbe's Happy Old Age sponsor activities. The aim of the sponsor activities is to help elderly people suffering from loneliness and to provide meaningful work for young people.
Cabling has been done and the power is still off – what on earth!
As winter never really arrived in southern Finland, this caused many kinds of strange things. Normally, we have not had the kinds of storms that we have now had during three weekends in February – or at least those who have been working in electricity distribution for a long time do not remember that there would have been. Electricity was cut off, and sometimes the fault repair took a long time. Why?
Caruna in 2019: local progress is being made on building a reliable electricity network
Caruna is overhauling the electricity network at a healthy pace. An electricity network built to address future needs will be able to cope with higher electricity consumption and tolerate the stresses caused by climate change without long power cuts.
A guaranteed job for electricity professionals via Caruna's training programme – the first training programme will start in February 2020
The training programme called Kärkiryhmä will start in February 2020. Applications for the training can be submitted from 16 December 2019 to 20 January 2020. Electricity distribution company Caruna, Barona and Sedu Education will in collaboration implement training for network electricians. The training is aimed at helping electricity network contractors find skilled workforce.
