For the mover – Important tips for moving house

Moving to Caruna's network area

Contact an electricity supplier and conclude an electricity contract

When you move house, contact an electricity supplier and conclude an electricity contract. If necessary, remember also to terminate the electricity contract in your old home by notifying the electricity supplier. You can compare electricity suppliers at www.sahkonhinta.fi.

Please note that a notice of termination or cancellation of an electricity connection contract is given when you do not need electricity at all in the property (not a removal) or when the property is being demolished.

Electricity network contract with Caruna

When you move to a new home, you don't need to contact Caruna. Your electricity supplier will notify us of your electricity contract and we will automatically send you a confirmation of an electricity network contract.

The electricity network contract covers the electricity distribution service, round-the-clock monitoring and fault repair of the electricity network, and customer service. Caruna will invoice you for electricity distribution, which includes the basic fee and the distribution fee. On the distribution invoice, you also pay electricity tax, which Caruna forwards to the state.

Does your new home have solar panels?

If you have solar panels on the roof of your detached house or cottage, you should also sign a second contract with the electricity supplier to sell your surplus generation. After this, you will receive an electricity network contract for generation from us. We do not charge for transmitting surplus generation to the distribution network.

The moving date changes or is cancelled

Things don't always go according to plan. If the moving date changes or is cancelled altogether, inform the electricity supplier with which you concluded the electricity contract of the change. Your electricity supplier will notify us of the change, and we will update or terminate your electricity network contract. You don't need to contact Caruna.

Connection of electricity when moving house

If your new home does not have electricity, we will send you a text message on the start date of the contract. In the message, we ask you to ensure that we can safely connect the electricity to your home. We will get your phone number from the electricity supplier. By following the instructions in the text message carefully, you will get the electricity connected to your home smoothly.

Moving away from Caruna's network area

When you move from your home, contact your electricity supplier and terminate your electricity contract. You don't need to contact Caruna. The electricity supplier will notify us of the termination of your electricity contract and we will automatically also terminate the electricity network contract. You will receive a final invoice from us within two weeks of the termination of the contract.

Change of electricity connection owner – if you bought a property

An electricity connection is movable property, which is not automatically transferred to the new owner of a property. Caruna is not informed of the new owner of an electricity connection, so as the new owner, it is your responsibility to inform us of the change of ownership.
